History
From our inception in 1995, we have continually evolved, adapted and innovated to help our clients realize their dreams. This in turn has made us achieve our goal of always exceeding customer’s expectations.

The consistent vision of the Founders has materialized into Harjai being rated as one of the top IT Company in India and abroad, that has pioneered and successfully implemented new approaches to IT Outsourcing and Recruitment. Since inception, our growth has been fuelled by CLIENT REFERENCES which till today is our most effective marketing tool.

Harjai is headquartered in Mumbai, India having business partners and customers worldwide. The company has been self-sufficient, external debt free and profitable since its inception. Harjai has stayed true to its original vision of providing career graded IT Professionals and services, with the total focus on the needs of IT customers, and a company-wide commitment to high standards of service, corporate governance and financial performance.

Milestones

1995: A Vision
» The Company incorporated as Harjai Computers, executed its first Software Development Assignment for TELCO (now Tata Motors Ltd.) and placed its first candidate at client site in Dubai.
» In November 1996, Harjai Computers was converted into a Pvt. Ltd. and placed its first candidate in USA.

1997 – 2000 : Rapid Acceleration
» The Company expanded from being a regional player for IT Professionals to becoming a national player.
» In 1999, Harjai Software Consultants was incorporated to serve the organization’s focus on executing Offshore Development Projects. Harjai Software Consultants was created as a 100% Export Oriented Unit (EOU) & registered under the Software Technology Parks of India (STPI). The Software Development business has been since then transferred to Harjai Software Consultants.
» In 1999, Harjai Computers Pvt. Ltd. got its first assignment for Subcontracting IT professionals to M/s. Tata Infotech Ltd. (Now a part of M/s. Tata Consultancy Services).

The 2000s: Innovation for the New Millennium
» In 2000 the Internet Bubble Burst in the US resulting in an IT Market Crash Worldwide. Harjai Computers Pvt. Ltd. was one of the few companies which glided through the downturn. During this period, the organization focused on IT Outsourcing across India.
» In 2003, the Company shifted its HR business operations to a new ultra modern office in Malad, Mumbai.

2003-2004: ISO 9001:2008 certification: Commitment to Quality

The company decided to implement ISO 9001:2008 certification to reaffirm its focus & commitment to quality.

2005 – 2008: A Holistic Approach
» In 2005, Harjai Computers Pvt. Ltd. touched 100 employees & clients
» In 2007, Harjai Computers Pvt. Ltd. touched 150 employees & clients.
» In 2009, the management decided to enhance focus on Corporate Social Responsibility and formed a charitable trust “Harjai Foundation”

2009: Diversification
» In 2009, the company diversified to provide Outsourcing & Recruitment services to Non IT areas.
» Increased portfolio of IT services to provide SAP Consulting Services.

Company Management Subhash Harjai, Electrical Engineer, Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Chairman
Mr. Subhash Harjai has led Harjai Group since 1995. Mr. Subhash played a key role in defining the company’s strategy and continuously creating innovation to maintain its leadership in the industry. He has taken a personal interest in developing teams and invested significant time in creating leaders in Harjai. Over a decade of a continuous involvement he has led the company reach where it is today.

Mr. Subhash Harjai began his career in DCM Ltd. in Kota, Rajasthan and moved to NOCIL in Mumbai having held Senior management positions where he took VRS (Voluntary Retirement ahead of time), when he was invited by Mr. Sanjay Harjai to don the role of Chairman.

Sanjay Harjai, BE (Computers Eng) (VJTI), Managing Director
Sanjay Harjai is the Managing Director of Harjai Computers Pvt. Ltd.; Sanjay has over 20 years of experience in the world of IT, having held senior management positions in Tata Consultancy Services. Sanjay is an alumni from VJTI, Mumbai. He has lived and worked in the USA with multinational USA software companies. Since his return to India in 1995 he has been successfully running 2 companies namely, Harjai Computers Pvt. Ltd., and Harjai Software Consultants.

A software industry veteran, Sanjay’s passion for technology was sparked in the early 1990s. However, his initial attempts at programming soon helped him identify his true talent and strength, working with customers rather than in development. In the course of his career, he has visited thousands of customers worldwide gaining unique insight into their needs and business processes.

Sanjay has personally witnessed the evolution of IT industry in innumerable countries especially India. He recognizes the impact that technology has on individuals and businesses alike, and this has shaped his belief in the power of IT in particular to address the challenges of sustainability. A deep commitment to the planet, diversity, and corporate social responsibility is inextricably linked to his passion for the future of our incredible country, of the global economy & our lovely planet.

Arty Harjai, Masters in Social Work, Delhi University; Diploma in BCT, California, USA; HR Director
Mrs. Arty Harjai serves as the company’s HR Director. She led the company’s transformation into a technology driven force and her contribution has been one of the important reason for the company’s success. She is heading the HR division since 1996 and has executed several critical assignments.

Prior to joining Harjai, she has worked with the counseling department of Springdale School, New Delhi as well as Sunnyvale School, California. She has number of years of experience of working with children as well as adults in the counseling field. She lived and worked in USA for 2 years to understand the different parameters in University selection.

Seema Harjai; Executive Director
Mrs. Seema Harjai is the first Entrepreneur in the Harjai family. She incorporated Seema Institue in 1978 in the days when female entrepreneur were hardly found. She nurtured and grew Seema Institute to become a brand name in the entire Western Suburbs of Mumbai. She joined Harjai Computers as an Executive Director in 1996 & has been providing insight and leadership to steer the organization from its founding period, laying down strong foundations which has seen the organization grow from strength to strength.

Shobha Gattani, MA, General Manager
Ms. Shobha Gattani is the General Manager of Harjai Computers Pvt. Ltd. She played a central role in the development of Harjai into one of India’s IT outsourcing Company. Previously in her career, Shobha Gattani spent eighteen years working at Seema Institue having held senior management positions. She has been successfully heading the HR Division of Harjai Computers Pvt. Ltd., since the last 10 years. A very well know and respected professional in her own rights commands the respect of IT-HR professionals, both senior and junior.

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)
At Harjai foundation, the distribution of wealth is as important as its legal and ethical creation. We are committed to contributing to the society as a not-for-profit trust to support our social initiatives, supports programs and organizations devoted to the cause of the destitute, the rural poor, the mentally challenged, and the economically disadvantaged sections of the society. Harjai has taken an initiative to respond to immediate needs of communities in disaster rehabilitation, education opportunities for the disempowered, health and wellness and community development.
